Sharon is a community builder and connector who loves engaging others to support local needs. A Certified Human Resources Leader with over 20 years of experience, she’s known to leverage her network to help others by facilitating introductions for new grads, experienced professionals and new immigrants.
When help is needed, Sharon steps up to the plate to champion the cause. She has helped secure vacuum cleaners and toiletries for a women’s centre, dozens of suitcases for kids in care, hundreds of winning Tim tabs for the homeless, dozens of coats for Out of the Cold, boxes of school supplies for FACS, and the list goes on. Her own grassroots Toasty Toes campaign collected 1001 pairs of socks for local shelters in 2015, more than doubling her previous efforts.
Sharon has been a community volunteer for two decades. She’s a Director on the Business and Education Partnership of Waterloo Region Board and a member of their Speakers Bureau – visiting high schools to coach students on resume/cover letter development, interview skills and personal branding. She’s an invited speaker on Networking, a member of 100 Women Who Care Waterloo Region, and a member of the Organizing Committee for Fairways ‘n Friends Golf Tournament benefitting St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation. A graduate of Leadership Waterloo Region, she’s a member of their Alumni Council and was active on their Curriculum Committee for 2 years helping to plan the Leadership Day on Poverty. Past community work includes over a decade with Junior Achievement, 5 years with the Canadian Cancer Society, 2 years with Nutrition for Learning, St. Vincent dePaul, Strong Start Reading, school volunteer, Parish Council, We Day, Mentoring-in-Motion and as a Connector with the Waterloo Region Connector Pilot Program.
Sharon is a mom, wife, stroke survivor, community builder and connector.
