Liza Crawford was born at Scarborough Centenary Hospital on May 16, 1976, first born daughter of Jack and Carol Anne Crawford. The family lived in Ajax, Ontario until Liza was nine years old then moved up north to live on Canal Lake, where Liza and her three sisters attended Kirkfield Public School from 1984-1990. Liza attended Fenelon Falls Secondary School from 1990 – 1995 and studied English at the University of Toronto from 1995 – 1999.
She then followed her passion for teaching and attended Teacher’s College from 1999 – 2000 at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. She taught in the Toronto District School board from 2000 – 2010 and then was hired by the Halton District School Board, where she has been teaching for the past six years. Liza recently accepted a new position as In-School Program Leader of English at T.A. Blakelock High School in Oakville, beginning in September of 2016. Liza married Shaun Carson, whom she met while attending teacher’s college, in 2005 and had two sons, Crawford Grant in 2007 and Atticus John in 2009. The family currently resides in Oakville, Ontario. After Liza’s father died suddenly of a heart attack in June 2007, Liza used marathon running as a means of dealing with the loss of her father. Liza used her grief to help her achieve her dream of running the Boston Marathon, which she did in 2015 and will do on April 18th, 2016. Liza never gives up.
